Ornaments of a House

Today is Balloon Day, so naturally I think of festive decorations. Today is my friend Jan’s birthday, and I am sure her house has colorful signs and cards from her children, and the traditional flowers from her husband – one rose for every year!

In most of our homes and offices it is not unusual to see balloons, flowers and cards on a special occasion. But the brightest balloons and the most fragrant flowers don’t begin to compare to the smiles and hugs when a friend visits!

At a party last week I was talking with someone I’d not seen for many years. As I was telling her about WhatFriendsDo.com she told me of two different friends with cancer. She’s not called either friend, and feels guilty. I encouraged her to check the WhatFriendsDo.com website to find a way to open those doors. I assured her that her friendships would pick right up where they left off, all she needed was a comfortable way to make contact. Balloon Day is a great example; send balloons with a note with words such as “Thinking of you and hope to visit with you soon.”

Tomorrow’s topic is ‘summer salads’ … plan on sharing your favorite recipe!
