Cream Filled Donut day

First of all..YUMMM! What could be better than a fabulous cream filled donut? Usually best covered in powered sugar that will give you a nice ring around your mouth and then leave little spots on your clothes for your friends to point out throughout the day. Well, let me tell you what's better than a cream filled donut: eating that cream filled donut with your friend! Being with a friend who points out the sugar that has dropped onto your pants, and then passes you a napkin to wipe off the extra cream that is on your check where you cannot see it. I used to have a tendency (mostly when I was pregnant, but on numerous other occasions as well) to stop by the donut store on the way to work. I would rarely be able to wait the four minutes it took to get to my office after I left the drive thru, so I would start eating at the stop light. I always managed to drop something onto my work clothes, but usually thought I got everything cleaned up before I went into the office. Of course this was rarely the case and a trusty co-workers would make a little motion toward the corner of my mouth or a brushing motion on my leg. After awhile there would be the "oh, I see it was another donut day" or "why didn't you call and ask what kind I wanted you to bring for me?" It began to be a joke. When I was pregnant and my stomach grew, and the stops in the morning at the donut store were more frequent, the jokes were doled out and talk of the baby and life in general was a regular occurrence among my co-workers and myself. It's how friendships form and are sustained sometimes - over little things like cream filled donuts. So whether your thing with your friend is cream filled donuts or coffee, sports or jokes, make a point to reach out in a hard time and bring along whatever it is that helps you connect!
