Facebook Friends

Friday night I went to Lowes and got a nifty little stand to put my new printer on; my new computer would be delivered the next day. Before assembling the stand I had to check my email, and of course make my Scrabble plays on Facebook. I had a new "friend request" on Facebook from someone from way-back-when! I smiled and clicked on 'confirm.'

I could have just looked at her wall, checked out her photos, and then gone right back to Scrabble (which I have to admit, I have done too often with 'friend requests'.) But I didn't stop there. I knew I had some old photos that would be of interest to my 'new friend' so I sent a message with a link to a photo album. I expected the typical pleasant "thanks - nice to be in touch again" - and that would be it.

My 'new friend' replied rather quickly. One of the photos had very special meaning to her, and was a true gift. Who knew? We proceeded to spend many hours over the weekend exchanging messages and we've now started a great new friendship as adults that stemmed from common bonds when we were children.

We've both had a very busy week, so our next run of email exchanges will have to wait until the weekend. I'll have news to share regarding my week and more stuff from the past to fill in. Soon I'll find more of those old pictures to send, too. It's what friends do!

Meanwhile, my new printer still is not hooked up. I'll make that connection soon.
